Coping Strategies For Working Mothers

• Reward yourself with a hot cup of coffee, or chocolate milk, when you are extremely tired. This will refresh you.
• Say 'No' to your child when he throws a tantrum. Don't give into the unreasonable demands of your child. Make eye contact and tell the child you mean business.
• Dont feel guilty that you could be a better mother if you could spend more time with your kids. Remember 'Quality' is more important than 'Quantity' time.
• Meditation can be an excellent stress buster.
• Keep reminding yourself that you have an identity of your own and you are special. You are Unique.
• Free yourself from the pressure of remembering a I0O things by just jotting down 'things to be done' to be organised and avoid last minute hassles.
• Don't be a perfectionist. Overlook a few things not done perfectly
• Make your children independent like making their own beds, polishing their shoes etc.
• Re-live your childhood by visiting the park , going to a movie, or a zoo, or visiting your friends.
• Create a corner for yourself in the house. Keep photographs of your near and dear ones, holy books or any other memento. Sit here and relax from your regimented routine.
• Solve crosswords, have debates with your grown up children to lubricate your fatigued brain.
• Firmly disallow anyone in the family or outside to be extremely demanding or accuse you.
Do not demand but command respect, diginity,appreciation because they help you to grow emotionally. -

DEFINITION OF EXCELLENCE

Excellence

A man once visited a temple under construction where he saw a sculptor making an idol of God. Suddenly he noticed a similar idol lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor, "Do you need two statues of the same idol?" "No," said the sculptor without looking up, "We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage." The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage. "Where is the damage?" he asked. "There is a scratch on the nose of the idol." said the sculptor, still busy with his work. "Where are you going to install the idol?" The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high. "If the idol is that far, who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman asked.

The sculptor stopped his work, looked up at the gentleman, smiled and said, "I will know it."

The desire to excel is exclusive of the fact whether someone else appreciates it or not. "Excellence" is a drive from inside, not outside.

Excellence is not for someone else to notice but for your own satisfaction.

बच्चों के लिए लिखना सबसे कठिन कार्य है ।बच्चे जितने छोटे उनके भाषा-ज्ञान ,मनोविज्ञान के अनुरूप लेखन उतना ही चुनौती-भरा है।पंकज चतुर्वेदी जी ने मुनिया और राजू के पतंग उड़ाने के प्रसंग को रोचक , सरल और सहज भाषा में पिरोकर प्रस्तुत किया है । उड़ाते समय पतंग पेड़ में फँस जाती है और झटका देने पर टूट जाती है। बाँस से निकालने के प्रयास में पतंग तो निकलती नहीं ,ऐसे में कुछ आम टूट्कर गिर जाते हैं ।राजू और मुनिया आम खाकर खुश हो जाते हैं ।
आगे चिड़िया का बच्चा पतंग की डोर को मुँह से पकड़कर उड़ने का मज़ा लेता है ।पतंग उसकी चोंच से छूटती है तो खरगोश को मिल जाती है ;लेकिन उठाते समय उसके तीखे नाखूनों से फट जाती है ।
खरगोश रोने लगता है तो उसकी माँ फटी पतंग की झण्डियाँ बनाकर दरवाज़े को सजा देती है ।
इस प्रकार एक पतंग सबको खुशी प्रदान करती है ।शब्दाडम्बर से दूर यह किताब शिशु वर्ग को रिझाने में सफल है ।इस छोटी –सी रोचक कथा को अजीत नारायण ने अपने चित्रांकन से सजाकर और भी रोचक बना दिया है ।

चन्दा और खरगोश एक छोटी –सी कथा है-खरगोश के धरती पर आने की ।खरगोश ठहरा बच्चा । चाँद पर रहता है उसके साथ-साथ । ।दोनों में गहरी दोस्ती है । धरती, हरे-भरे पेड़ ,नीला समुद्र हमेशा उसे लुभाते रहते हैं; इसीलिए वह हमेशा नीचे झाँकता रहता है । चाँद उसे ऐसा करने से मना करता है ;पर वह मानता नहीं । चाँद पर तेज आँधी चलती है ।झाँकते समय एक दिन वह गिर पड़ता है और कई साल तक हवा में तैरते हुए धरती पर उतर आता है। चाँद पर रहते हुए तो वह हाथी जितना बड़ा था ;लेकिन धरती पर आते-आते बहुत छोटा हो जाता है ।बाल भी टूट्कर छोटे हो जाते हैं ।
चाँद को खरगोश आज तक नहीं भूल पाया है ।उसकी लाल-लाल आँखों इस बात की गवाह हैं ।

चिड़िया के थे बच्चे चार,

अच्छा था उनका व्यवहार।

माँ को थे वो नहीं सताते,

भूख लगे तो गाना गाते।

मम्मी चिड़िया उड़कर जाती,

अच्छा-अच्छा दाना लाती।

बच्चे मिल-बाँटकर खाते,

इक-दूज़े से चोंच लड़ाते।

चंकी बंदर बड़ा शैतान

रोज़ उमेठे सबके कान ।

रामू ने फिर जुगत लगाई,

चंकी की कर दी कुडमाई।

अब चंकी जी मुँह छिपाये,

चूहा बिल जो अपना बनाये

ढेरों मिट्टी खोदे जाये।

रेशम का कीड़ा दीवाना

सुन्दर बुनता ताना बाना।

रस फूलों का लेकर आती

मधु मक्खियाँ मधु बनातीं।

दिन भर मकड़ी जाल है बुनती।

मगर आह! न हमको सुनती।

7-बच्चों की पाती

आओ बच्चों जल्दी आओ,

अपनी पाती लेकर जाओ।

पढ़कर इसको रखना याद,

पूरे होंगे सारे ख्वाब।

प्रातः जल्दी उठकर तुम,

सभी बड़ों को करो नमन।

और प्रभु का लेकर नाम,

करो शुरू तुम सारे काम।

सभी बड़ों का आदर करना,

छोटों से भी न तुम लड़ना।

अगर करोगे अच्छे काम,

जग में होगा सबका नाम।

मात-पिता की आज्ञा मानों,

भले बुरे को तुम पहचानों।

फैलाओ ऐसा उज़ियारा,

मिट जाये जग का अँधियारा।

बड़ी लगन से पढ़ना तुम,

मेहनत से न डरना तुम।

पाओगे ऊँचा स्थान

बन जायेगें बिगड़े काम।

झूठ की राह कभी न चलना,

सच के पथ पर आगे बढ़ना।

झूठ का होता है अपमान,

सच को मिलता है सम्मान।

जीवों पर भी दया करो,

कभी न उनका बुरा करो।

वो भी देंगे तुमको प्यार

प्रेममय होगा संसार।

गर तुम पे हो रोटी कम,

‘चिटकू”बालकथा का मुख्यपात्र चिटकू चूहा है , जो बहुत छोटा और चंचल है।अपनी चंचलता के कारण सूँ-सूँ करता पनीर की गन्ध सूँघता इधर –उधर दौड़ता है और मुन्नू कि प्लेट तक पहुँच जाता है। भागने पर मुन्नू की हॉकी स्टिक की चोट से उसकी दुम का एक सिरा अलग हो जाता है । चिटकू की माँ उसे अकेले बाहर जाने से मना करती है। माँ की बात को वह बहुत जल्दी भूल जाता है और लड्डू खाने के लोभ पर नियंत्रण नहीं कर पाता है; जिससे वह लड्डुओं के ढेर में दब जाता है । चुहिया माँ उसे किसी तरह बाहर निकालती है । एक बार फिर चिटकू बिल्ली के पंजे में फँस जाता है और भाग्य से किसी प्रकार बच जाता है । कहानी में रोचकता शुरू से आखिर तक बनी हुई है । छोटे बच्चों के मानसिक स्तर के अनुसार लिखी गई कहानियाँ बहुत कम हैं ।यह पुस्तक इस कमी की पूर्ति करने में सहायक है ।

गंगा–जमुना नहीं हैं नदियाँ पावन दूध की धारा हैं ।

इन्हीं के बलबूते पर हमने शत्रु को ललकारा है ।

इसी अमृत को पीकर हमने बाजी लगाई जान की ॥

बाहें मिलाकर वीर बाँकुरे शेरों से भी खेले हैं

अंगारों की बरसातों में वार भयंकर झेले हैं ।

गूँज रही अब तक हुंकारें 'वन्देमातरम्' गान की ॥

बहिनों ने भाई के माथे लहू के तिलक लगाए हैं

हाथों में तलवारें लेकर रण में जौहर दिखाए हैँ ।

मार –मार कर दुश्मन की सेनाएँ लहू-लुहान की ॥

अडिग हिमालय हम सब वासी सागर से गम्भीर हैं

दुश्मन की गर्दन की खातिर, हम पैनी शमशीर है ।

आई जिसे सींचती वाणी गीता और क़ुरान की ॥

हमको प्राणों से भी प्यारी धरती हिन्दुस्तान की ॥
